• Many kids are anxious about going back to school this year.

  • Some are afraid that they or family members will get sick. Others worry they’ve fallen behind and won’t catch up.

  • Anxiety can make it harder for kids to use coping skills they’ve learned in the past.

  • Kids who were already struggling with school or friends may be especially anxious this year.

  • Once kids get into the situation that they’re anxious about and can cope, those feelings usually go away.

  • Sometimes anxiety doesn’t go away, though. It’s important to work with your child’s teacher to keep an eye on it.
