Many kids are anxious about going back to school this year.
Some are afraid that they or family members will get sick. Others worry they’ve fallen behind and won’t catch up.
Anxiety can make it harder for kids to use coping skills they’ve learned in the past.
Kids who were already struggling with school or friends may be especially anxious this year.
Once kids get into the situation that they’re anxious about and can cope, those feelings usually go away.
Sometimes anxiety doesn’t go away, though. It’s important to work with your child’s teacher to keep an eye on it.
