An estimated two billion people around the world have the parasite Toxoplasma gondii (often transmitted through cat feces) in their brains. A new collaborative study suggests that may be more harmful than previously believed. In the study, researchers from 16 institutions found that the parasite might increase risk of epilepsy, Alzheimer’s, and Parkinson’s.
