The idea that we use only 10 percent of our brain at any given time is a myth.

It seems to have arisen out of early neuroscience findings that identified “silent” areas in the cortex that were not responsive to sensory stimulation. It is now known that these areas, far from silent, are actually involved in higher cognitive processing.

人類只能用到大腦的十分之一能力這個說法,至今仍然是個謎。

這説法可能是源于早期的神經科學研究,因爲研究發現大腦皮層下,某些「沉靜」部位對感官刺激沒有任何反應。而現今的研究則指出,其實這些部位絕不安靜,它們只是參與較高層次的認知活動而已。
