“Fewer girls have ADHD than boys.”
Even though there are fewer reports of ADHD in girls than in boys, there is no evidence that girls are less likely to have ADHD than boys. Rather, studies suggest that girls are simply less likely to receive a diagnosis. This may have to do with the fact that girls are usually affected with the inattentive type of ADHD, which is harder to notice than the hyperactive or combined types of ADHD, and so parents or teachers may not seek help for the child.
